Beavers in Westbury-on-Trym The Beavers meet on Tuesday evenings during term time. We are the youngest section of the Scout Group offering a wide ranging programme for boys and girls aged between 6 and 8. Here at the Beaver Colony, we welcome children at the start of their scouting journey with the 167th Group based at Westbury Baptist Church. The focus for Beavers is very much learning by playing, and the main aim is to have fun! The volunteer Beaver Leadership Team put together a varied programme of activities throughout the year, coving a wide range of interests so that the Beavers get the most out of their Wednesday evenings and hopefully a few badges on their uniform. Recent evenings have included Animal Care (with a visit from a vet), Hot Air Balloons (with a visit from a pilot), a trip to the Bristol Aquarium, and Bonfire Night. We also take the older Beavers on our Summer Camp at a local secure scout campsite each year, which is quite an experience! We live by the Beaver Promise, even when we are not in uniform: “I promise to do my best, to be kind and helpful, and to love God.” If you would like to join the 167th Beavers, please contact Jo the waiting list co-ordinator. Subs are currently £45 per term (three times a year).
